This song is so iconic. I would say that even if you don't know what specific song it is, the introduction is pretty recognizable. It has such good vibes throughout, it makes you want to groove. It's not a dancing song necessarily, but it makes you want to sing and jam along. There's just something about it that gets me every time. I think being in the recording studio when The Temptations recorded this would have been awesome. The first lyrics are, "I've got sunshine on a cloudy day", and I think that really sets the tone for the rest of the song. It's so positive and upbeat, it gives off sunny vibes for sure. The whole song is about how everything is great because of "my girl". It really gives off a sense of just being on cloud 9 because she makes him so happy. The background instrumentals do a really good job of setting the mood and giving the song a fun feel. There's the twangy guitar that's keeping the beat going, a trumpet section for fun, and the string section that kind of makes it feel like something out of a movie.The vocals also do a good job of keeping things light & fun; they add to the vibe instead of ruining it. Overall, the effect is really good. It's not surprising why this was such a popular song, and why it continues to be so popular today. It can be appreciated by everyone, regardless of who you are.
